  1. Click\u00a0Check online for updates from Microsoft Update<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  2. Click on the\u00a0Install now<\/em>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n
  3. Windows will download and begin installing updates. It may be downloading updates and not appear to be making progress. It will eventually start installing the updates. To verify the updates are downloading go to\u00a0C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution\\Download. There will be a new file folder for each patch or update being installed.<\/li>\n
  4. Depending on the number of updates needed, your server may need to restart more than once.<\/li>\n
  5. Once the updates are complete, you can verify which updates were installed by returning to Windows Update and choosing\u00a0View update history.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Windows updates are commonly scheduled in our environment on a staggered basis. However, should you need to apply a Windows update manually, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Log into your Windows server via\u00a0Remote Desktop<\/strong>.
      \nIn Windows 2012 servers open the Windows\u00a0Control Panel<\/strong>: press the\u00a0Windows key<\/em>\u00a0and type Control Panel (if necessary switch the View by: settings to\u00a0Small Icons<\/em>).<\/li>\n
    2. Click\u00a0Windows Update<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
